I am a full Professor and the Head of the School of Computer Science in FEIT, teaching and researching in data analytics.
I am one of the main data analytics teachers at UTS, teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, both coursework and research students and in short courses. My teaching has been recognised by a 2013 OLT Citation for Outstanding Contributions to Student Learning and the 2012 UTS Learning and Teaching Award for Strengthening the UTS Model of Learning for "A decade long contribution to data analytics teaching, learning and academic leadership".
The focus on my research is in data analytics of biomedical data, mainly collaborating with paediatric cancer researchers, since 2002, to better understand and predict treatment outcomes for childhood cancer sufferers. But I also explore other areas of data analytics and bioinformatics including developing bioinformatics pipelines to facilitate animal vaccine discovery and mapping collaboration among researchers.
I have been part of the Organising Committee for the Australasian Data Mining Conference since 2006. I was co-chair of the 2015 Australasian Computing Science Week.
